I am so excited, Thanksgiving is almost here. My favourite holiday… no gifts, just fun… eating, drinking and family!
However, one of my favourite parts of the weekend is DECORATING!
This blog is going to be about my table settings I will be doing for the big day. This year we have 20 people here for the fabulous meal, so therefore I decided on 3 separate tables (which I'm secretly excited about!) The 2 end tables will have the same décor but the middle one will have my favourite bling. Since the bling was bought a few years ago it was not available anymore so I decided that will be the centre piece of the day and the 2 end tables will be the same.
The first thing we need to do is cover up the ugly fold up tables… they are a wonderful addition but not the prettiest thing for a decorator to see. I picked 2 different fall coloured table clothes, one rust and the other red. The next thing I wanted to do was place a runner on the tables to add to the colour. These runners are giant leaves of all colours, purchased at HomeSense.
I am placing wire pumpkins in the centre of our table with smaller gold pumpkins around it. I am using 3 because odd numbers are more pleasing to the eye. Arrange them in a triangle looking area around the larger wire pumpkin.
I picked the wire pumpkins because I felt we had enough colour on the table and didn’t want it to be overwhelming.
Now for the centre table! This will be the main table with the newly painted centre piece for the table and arm chairs.
This table as you remember is the blingy table. I have white and silver for the table cloth and runner as well as a white with silver sequin pumpkin. The little pumpkins around it are also silver and again there are 3 of them.
I have made a point of over the last few years getting white and red serving dishes as well as plates and chargers. The kitchen area of my house is stainless, black and white with red accents. In this area I use the red chargers but this year I found the most charming chargers at Michaels. They are a metallic brown but have white and gold writing on them. Just something a bit different to mix it up and to use on the tables that have the new accents.
I have also gathered plain white plates over the years that go with everything. Nothing fancy but they do the trick… but because I have the chargers it definitely dresses it up.
Another thing I like to add is napkins… I do prefer the paper ones only because I love the prints on them very seasonal and festive, and bonus you don't have to wash and iron them... there is enough of that going on with all the runners and table clothes.
I hope this added a smile to your face or even some incentive to make your own Thanksgiving centre pieces.
Thanks for letting me show you the simplicity of my life as I turn it into something chic… and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
