Rustic? Yes, please. This is such a great trend and it seems to be holding on a bit longer. Even to the point where companies have a line devoted directly to rustic décor, even clothing. Plaid…what a great trend, and again incredibly rustic. Wood, anything wooden, from shelves to overhead beams. Along with this amazing trend, do it yourself projects go hand in hand. I love this. There are many sites and programs devoted to helping you with these projects.
At first, I had not realized how much I like this trend. I had a red decorative charger that I put a few small birch branches on. I added three wire balls that I bought at Pier One Imports, and tada a perfectly rustic centre piece!
You all must be thinking, can I use rustic in traditional, modern or contemporary settings and I say…Yes, of course! We are not changing the entire décor; we are just adding some small details to it. One of my favourite details in a room with mostly white and chrome is to see those fluffy, fur blankets or pillows around the space. As well as long, birch branches in a glass, floor sized vase. I say if it makes you smile and feel happy when you look at it do it. Make the space your own.
Mason jars have also been incredibly popular. This is a long-standing trend. Using Mason jars for vases, drinking cups, etc. Such a cute trend but again also rustic. You can incorporate this trend anywhere with anything; the bathroom, the kitchen, the bedroom. They’re incredibly easy to find, places you’re your local grocery or super store. It doesn’t stop there, you can make them go with any room by painting the inside of the jar.
Overall, I’m a huge fan of incorporating small rustic pieces into the home. It truly can transform a space.
Thanks for letting me show you the simplicity of my life as I turn it into something chic.
