Last week we touched on some of the trends to keep an eye out for in 2017! Well, it only makes sense to touch on a few things that didn't make the cut in 2017.
First of all, copper. Yes, all of those copper items you bought are now on their way out. However, as we all know, they'll be back so don't go throwing them away. In the last blog, I was talking about matte finishes, well if you have copper, brass or rose gold that are matte you’re in luck. The new look of black, matte steel and burnished metals are in. The shiny tones are on their way out
Marble. They are reporting the change is being made to earthenware, such as timber, clay or wicker. Which I think is great for the summer months! Take out that wicker furniture, it is back!
This trend made me sad…not sad enough to take any down but sad nonetheless. Quote artwork. Apparently it is cliché.
Well this next one kinda caught me off guard…Fiddle Leaf figs. This is a show piece in your home that is a big leaved plant. They were very hard to get and even harder to keep alive, but here in Canada we used the ones that were faux. So now the small indoor plant is making a comeback.
You know the open home layout everyone is a fan of? Well, that's also on it's way out. We are back to separate areas, because people have found open floor plans tend to have problems with cooking smells, and of course acoustics. Please don’t feel like you have to put up walls, they are just saying that new homes area being built with separate areas.
The last one is subway tile. I do NOT agree. They are saying that due to the “proliferation” of these tiles they are declining in popularity. I find subway tile to be classic, modern or even traditional. Depends on where you use them and how they are displayed. So keep using those amazingly simple tiles, they look wonderful!
Thanks for letting me show you the simplicity of my life as I turn it into something chic.
